Resourceful cooks

Bravo to the creators of these three fine culinary ideas.

The crafty and resourceful cooks featured in these videos or whomever it is that came up with the mug cake undoubtedly deserve substantial applause.  The first and last are my favorites though I've never tried their recipes.

I can especially relate to the last individual (George Egg) as I recall straining pasta using a snow sled and considered making penne pasta using a coffee maker in the winter of January 2010 while staying at a cabin in Waterloo Recreational State Park with several fellows.  That was also the first time we browsed "wild" (more likely feral) rose hips too.  If I can find the pictures from that outing I'll try to post them.  It's the finest demonstration of  McGuyver caliber culinary work I've ever seen.

The list:

1) Mug eggs
It's a winner for its supreme simplicity and his professed affinity
for the method's efficiency in making respectable morning fare.

2)  Mug cake (5 minute chocolate cake) (as seen on a random online advertisement, sorry original video clip not available but here's a suitable substitute)
http://sortedfood.com/#!/cakeinamug/

Original advertisement ingredients (yes, I made a transcript of it):
Microwavable
4 tbsp flour
2 tbsp cocao powder
4 tbsp Sugar
Mix
1 egg
3 tbsp milk
3 tbsp oil
Vanilla
Chocolate chips
Stir with vigor!
Vanilla
Microwave 3 minutes

Only downsides: I've yet to figure out how to make these vegan, and many of the ingredients are relatively exotic (think about it, where does cocao and vanilla really come from? Sometimes South America, sometimes Africa, possibly tropical Asiatic nations like the Phillipines too--it takes a lot of energy, petrol in particular, to ship the ingredients to where we are).

Also, for those who choose to use nutella, please know nutella contains palm oil.  Health wise, I'm not to concerned, but the palm oil industry certainly contributes to major deforestation and orangutan poaching in Indonesia.

3)  Extreme hotel resourcefulness as demonstrated by George Egg:

This is the crown jewel, Macgyver meets awesome culinary finesse with class.  Bonus: his last name is egg.  I love the counterpoint of cooking implements and their uses.  An iron, the light bulb, he uses a bible to help raise the dough. Splendid!
